Fairy Winterland – Children’s Fairyland gets into spirit of the holidays of many cultures with this annual event. There will be stories, magic, crafts, a festival of lights and more, all celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Las Posadas, Diwali and Chinese New Year. Dec. 15-23. 12-7pm. Graham Lustig's Nutcracker – Dancers will bring to life the story of one girl's enchanted winter evening when the Oakland Ballet Company and Oakland Symphony present this holiday classic. Holiday Tea – Visit the historic Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate decked out in Edwardian holiday splendor for a seasonal tea or holiday tours. The Children’s High Tea will be held Dec. 10 at 11:15am. $48 adults, $46 seniors, $40 ages 6-12. Santa’s Brunch will take place Dec. 17 from 11am-1pm. Walnut Creek on Ice – Skaters can kick off the winter season in a partially enclosed ice rink for all ages and skills in downtown Walnut Creek from Nov. 10-Jan. 15. 12-8pm Mon-Thu., 11am-11pm Fri. and Sat., 11am-9pm Sun. $12-15 per person, includes skate rental. Zoo Lights – Hundreds of thousands of LED lights will brighten Oakland’s night sky in this zoo-wide event. Highlights include a candy-cane-lane-themed rides area, a nighttime adventure on the train, rocking around the Christmas trees in the Children’s Zoo, and a light show with hundreds and thousands of LED lights.
