Disney On Ice: Follow Your Heart. Feb. 21-25. Follow your heart straight to adventure at Disney On Ice featuring characters from Finding Dory, Frozen, Inside Out and more. $15-90. San Jose.

Murder Mystery Party for Teens. Feb. 9. In this fictitious storyline, a murder has been committed at a masquerade ball in a local castle. Be the sleuth who solves the case. Characters will be assigned by email. Costumes optional. Masks provided. For grades 8-12. Menlo Park. FREE but advance registration required.

Asian Art Museum’s Lunar New Year Celebration. Feb. 18. Celebrate the Year of the Dog with a variety of activities at the Asian Art Museum. Included with admission: $20 adults, $15 youth 13-17, under 13 and SFUSD student. San Francisco.

Chinese New Year Parade and Festival. Feb. 24. This parade celebrates the Year of the Dog and features gorgeous floats, elaborate costumes, ferocious lions, exploding firecrackers and the newly crowned Miss Chinatown USA and her court. FREE. San Francisco.

East Bay

Love Is in the Air. Feb. 11. The California newts are celebrating Valentine’s Day in Sunol! Take a moderate 3-mile round-trip hike to their breeding pools to learn about these amorous amphibians. Sun., 10am-12pm. FREE. Sunol Regional Wilderness. 

Family Bird Walk. Feb. 17. Grab your binoculars and take your kids, ages 5-10, outside to learn about nature. Begin by helping children create their personal bird watching field guides and then head onto the trails to find those birds. Please register in advance online. 2-4pm. FREE. Fremont. 

OMCA Lunar New Year. Feb. 25. This 17th annual event will welcome the Year of the Dog with adoptable dogs on site, visits with live farm animals and an array of Asian traditions in arts, crafts, food, demonstrations, live music, dance and martial arts. 12-4:30pm. $15.95 adults, $10.95 students/seniors, $6.95 ages 9-17, children ages 8 and under FREE.
