 Silicon Valley

Redwood Mountain Faire. June 2-3. This annual event brings together a wide range of music styles on two stages, fine art and crafts, exciting children’s activities, and excellent food and beverages, including local micro-brews and wines. $25 adults, kids 12 and under FREE. Felton.

Silicon Valley Jewish Music Festival. June 10. Enjoy live music, food and family activities at this annual festival on the JCC field. This year will be a beach theme. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. $8-15, free for kids 12 and under. Los Gatos.

Gilroy Gardens Father’s Day. June 17. Ribs, hot dogs and other items are on the menu for this special barbecue in honor of dad. $12-17, plus admission. Gilroy.

Free Movies on the Beach. June 22. Bring a blanket or a low-backed chair and enjoy a movie by the Santa Cruz Boardwalk on the beach. FREE. Santa Cruz.

SF, Marin & Peninsula

Filoli Flower Show. June 1-3. Roam the historic rooms of the Filoli mansion while enjoying the marvelous arrangements and vignettes that incorporate the beautiful colors of California and a variety of floral design concepts. $30 for members / $35 for non-members. Woodside.

San Mateo County Fair. June 9-17. Ride the Ferris wheel, play games on the midway, check out the art and crafts made by your neighbors, visit farm animals and enjoy performances by Sheila E, TLC, Gossamer Magic, Sugar Ray, Pablo Cruise, Average White Band and John Michael Montgomery. $10 adults, $8 kids 6-12 before June 3; $15 adults, $10 kids 6-12 at the gate. San Mateo

North Beach Festival. June 16-17. This outdoor festival features more than 125 arts and crafts booths, tasty food, two stages of live entertainment, Italian street painting, poetry readings, beverage gardens, kids’ chalk art and the blessing of the animals. FREE. San Francisco.

Aloha Polyfest. June 23. Celebrate and learn about Polynesian culture. There will be cultural dances, songs, crafts, vendors and more. Kids can make leis and hair flowers. FREE. San Francisco.

Marin County Fair. June 30-July 4. This fair celebrates family, art, agriculture and the environment. There will be carnival rides, concerts and fireworks every night, as well as baked goods, photography and more. $12-15 plus $3 service fee. San Rafael.

East Bay

Sand Castle Contest. June 2. Watch people create works of art on the beach or dig in and compete during Alameda’s much-loved 52nd Annual Sand Castle and Sculpture Contest. Registration is from 9-11am and judging starts at 12pm. Awards ceremony at 1pm. FREE. Alameda.

Open Studio 2.0. June 6-8. MOCHA has transformed its Open Studio space, expanding Wed.-Fri. drop-in workshops for all ages to explore, play and create with varying themes. 10am-1pm. $5 per person. Oakland. 

County Fair Opening. June 15-July 8. Say “Hello Summer!” when the Alameda County Fair returns today through July 8 with rides, animals, food, games, concerts and more. Kick off the festivities with an Opening Day Cattle Drive at 10:30am today through the streets of downtown Pleasanton, and then keep the fun moving with $1 admission and $1 rides until 5pm. 10:30am-11pm. After 5pm: $10-15 ages 13-61, $8-10 ages 6-12, under 6 FREE; carnival wrist bands $28-35. Pleasanton.

Summer FamilyFest. June 23. The library will celebrate its Summer Reading Festival with entertainment and activities at Lafayette Summer FamilyFest 2018. Please register online. 11am-2pm. FREE. Lafayette.
