Silicon Valley

A La Carte & Art. May 5-6. This annual festival features live music, art from 200 of the west coast’s top artists, food and drink, face painting, a kids’ “Super Duper Funzone” and more. FREE. Mountain View.

Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival. May 12. Enjoy cultural performances, arts and crafts, refreshments, special guests, community resource vendors and giveaways. FREE. San Jose.

Pop Up Art. May 19. Kids will learn the basics of pop-up art then use scissors and glue to make their own pop-up creations at New Museum Los Gatos. $8, plus museum admission for adults. Los Gatos.

Memorial Weekend Barbecue. May 26-28. Pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs and wild mushroom raviolis and more is on the menu for this barbecue at Gilroy Gardens. $12-17, plus admission. Gilroy.

SF, Marin & Peninsula

Cinco de Mayo Festival. May 5. The celebration showcases the best of Mexican and Latin American culture with a diverse array of foods, music, dance and artistry. FREE. San Francisco

Taiwanese American Cultural Festival. May 12. This event features food and live musical performances. Learn more about Taiwan history and Taiwanese Americans in the Bay Area. FREE. San Francisco.

Maker Faire Bay Area 2018. May 18-20. This is a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making and share what they are learning. $20-$400. San Mateo.

Carnaval San Francisco. May 26-27. Watch a procession of floats with rich multicultural themes featuring performers who engage and entertain the crowd. Afterward attend the festival and enjoy international food, music, dance, arts and crafts. FREE. San Francisco.

East Bay

Healthy Heroes. May 5. Dress up as your favorite superhero and come to a 5K Fun Run for all ages and abilities, and a super fun carnival with games, prizes, dunk booth and food trucks. 9:45am-1pm. $25-30 Fun Run, $1-5 games, admission FREE. Pleasant Hill

Mother's Day Teapots. May 12. Celebrate with Mom and tap into your creative sides together (or just make her a great gift!) during a workshop to choose, plant and maintain succulents in a unique container. Children's Book Festival. May 19. Celebrate local children’s books and their creators at Fairyland’s Turn the Page! Book Festival and meet more than 25 authors and illustrators, including Oakland’s own Mac Barnett. 10am-4pm. $10. Oakland.

Bay Area KidFest. May 26-28. Enjoy a three-day weekend of live entertainment, arts and crafts, sports, exhibits, rides and more for children at this 29th annual event. 10am-6pm. $7 per person ages 2 and over. Concord.
