Rail Fair. Sept. 2-4. Spend your three-day weekend with the 18th annual Rail Fair at Ardenwood featuring historic steam locomotive “Ann Marie,” narrow-gauge steam train rides, special activities for younger children, model railroads, games and live music. 10am-4pm.  $12 adults, $7 ages 4-17, Fremont.

International Dragon Boat Festival. Sept. 23-24. Treat your family to the sight and sound of vibrant 40-foot dragon boats racing to the beat of Chinese drums. This 22nd annual Northern California festival, featuring approximately 130 teams from around the world, also entertains its guests with Asian arts performances and a Dragon Land for kids with stilt walkers, crafts, face painting and more. 10am-5pm.
