Marin

Memorial Day Service – Marin County United Veterans Council conducts this program, which includes music, a remembrance program, flag displays and wreath-laying ceremonies. Mon., May 28. 9am. FREE. Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium, 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael.

Muir Beach Volunteer Firemen’s Barbecue – This event features food, kids’ activities and dancing to live music by Andre Pessis and his All Stars with opening band Soul Ska. Sun., May 27. 12-5pm. San Francisco

Memorial Day at the Presidio – The Presidio Trust, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the city of San Francisco present this 150th annual observance. The ceremony will honor Americans serving in United States armed forces and the sacrifices made by military personnel, veterans and their families. Mon., May 28. 10:30am-2pm. FREE. Parade begins at 10:30am at Presidio Officers’ Club, 50 Moraga Ave. Ceremony is at 11am at San Francisco National Cemetery, 1 Lincoln Blvd. The 21-guns salute is at 12pm at Pershing Square, Main Post. Memorial Day Parade, Carnival and Music Festival – Enjoy a parade, a carnival and live musical acts. Mon., May 28. Parade begins at 10:30am at Town Hall, 1600 Floribunda Ave., Hillsborough. Festivities end at 2:30pm. 650-375-7400.

Art & Wind Festival – Kites are the main attraction of an annual Memorial Day weekend celebration along with artists' booths for shopping and hands-on activities.
