Five Top Holiday Events in Silicon Valley




Disney Junior Holiday Party! - All the kids’ favorite characters from the Disney Junior channel are coming to San Jose to celebrate the holidays at this interactive show filled with holiday classics that will have families bouncing along out of their seats. Thu., Dec. 19. 6pm. $35 and up. San Jose Civic, 135 W. San Carlos St. 

Downtown San Jose - The city of San Jose does the holidays like none other in the area, with attractions galore in the downtown area. Christmas in the Park in Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park is marking its 40th year with its greatest collection of holiday displays to date, including the new “Teddy Bear Factory.” Take a ride on the Ferris wheel in the Winter Wonderland amusement park. Rent some skates and glide under the stars at Downtown Ice. There are also live performances and visits from Santa, with each night offering a new way to celebrate the holiday season. FREE admission, with fees for WInter Wonderland attractions and Downtown Ice skating. Don’t miss the Christmas in the Park opening night parade and tree lighting ceremony on Nov. 29 at 5pm. 

Fantasy of Lights - Take a walk or drive through with friends and family to the “Fantasy of Lights” at Vasona Lake County Park, an annual holiday light show put on by the Santa Clara County Parks Department. Young and old will appreciate the colorful cast of electric characters and holiday scenes shining against the water and throughout the park’s 1.5-mile trail. Drive through: Dec. 10-30, closed Dec. 25. 6-10pm. $20 per vehicle (up to 12 guests), $50 per oversized vehicle (13 or more). Walk-through nights: Dec. 7-8. 4-9pm. $10 adults, $5 child, 3 and under FREE. All tickets must be purchased in advance. 333 Blossom Hill Road, Los Gatos. 

Gilroy Gardens Holiday at Night - This family theme park is celebrating the holiday season with nights filled with ice skating, Santa visits and live entertainment. Come for a hearty holiday meals and enjoy the festive decor and activities. Select dates Nov. 29-Dec. 31. Check website for hours and prices. 3050 Hecker Pass Highway. 

Santa Cruz Lighted Boat Parade - A holiday tradition beloved by locals and visitors alike, this Santa Cruz Harbor boat parade is a fun free outing for families and a beautiful sight to behold. Sat., Dec. 7. 5:30pm. FREE. 135 Fifth Ave.
