Nestled in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California, Camp Woolman is a beautiful small community where kids come to backpack, swim, make friends, play sports, do art, and learn about peace and community. Our small camp size (55 campers each week) ensures that every child is given the attention and encouragement they need to just be themselves and have a great time!
Wombat Campers (ages 9-14) spend half the week living in rustic cabins, and the other half backpacking in stunning areas such as Tahoe National Forest, Desolation Wilderness, and along the Yuba River. Only 5 campers per cabin allows for some great bonding and life-long memories. We allow our campers to choose what activities they want to attend, and many all-camp games make our community uniquely close-knit .
Teen Leadership Camp (ages 15 - 17) offers teens the chance to take on new wilderness challenges, exercise leadership, and practice skills vital to becoming independent backpackers and trip leaders - all while forming a truly unique and unforgettable community. Depending on the selected session, teens will go on backpacking trips anywhere from 3 to 10 days long. In each TLC session there are always endless opportunities to cook, dance, play games, swim, do arts and crafts, lead activities for younger campers, and whatever else they can come up with!
Both age groups spend a lot of time together back at camp, playing group games, eating delicious vegetarian food, and forming a tightly knit community that celebrates diversity, rustic living, and friendship. Visit www.woolman.org/camp for more details and registration!
