Stanbridge Academy is a fully-accredited K–12 school in San Mateo founded with the mission to provide a comprehensive, structured academic environment for students who learn differently. We know what it means to have a child who is not “a cookie-cutter kid,” and we understand the frustration of parents who have seen their children struggle in schools that simply were not the right fit.
At Stanbridge, our 7th- and 8th-grade Junior High division provides the academic program and social structure to ensure that students are successful in bridging the transition between childhood and adolescence. By incorporating a dedicated staff of teachers, speech therapists, and counselors, Stanbridge is able to effectively address the particular challenges students of this age encounter, while helping them to prepare for the next transition to high school.
The Stanbridge Academy Junior High Open House will be held on Wednesday, February 13 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. This event will feature presentations from key staff and faculty members, plus Q&A with teachers from our junior high division, as well as our Head of School, Principal, and Director of Counseling. The event will also include a guided tour of our campus and classrooms, where you will get to see our students and teachers in action. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our junior high school program and discuss your child's individual needs and goals with our teachers, counselors, and administrative staff.
The event is free and we encourage interested guests to RSVP by clicking the link below, or by visiting our website. If you are unable to attend this Open House, please note that additional events and group tour opportunities are scheduled throughout the year, and you can always schedule a personalized tour of our campus by completing our online form or contacting our Director of Admissions, Susan Coyne, at 650.375.5860, ext. 208. Go to our website's Visit Stanbridge page for more details.
Founded in 1982, Stanbridge Academy is one of the Bay Area’s only dually-accredited K–12 schools for students with learning differences and other special education needs. Stanbridge is fully accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) through June 2025.
At Stanbridge, we embrace differences. Our students have a variety of learning and social challenges. All of our students benefit from small class sizes, differentiated instruction, development of executive functioning skills, and a schoolwide social learning curriculum. Our program is designed to provide a comprehensive, whole-school experience and community for each student at every grade level.
Stanbridge Academy accepts applications for new students on an open, rolling basis, and offers financial aid/tuition assistance to qualifying families. We offer a commute shuttle for students living in the San Francisco and San Jose areas, as well as a morning and afternoon shuttle to and from the San Mateo Caltrain station.
We encourage you to learn more about our school and program at www.stanbridgeacademy.org.
