The Magic Mushrooms
A nasty goblin tricks a young fairy into eating one of his magic mushrooms. Once eaten, the eater falls under the spell of the goblin. And so, since he doesn't like to clean his own cave, he orders the fairy to live with him and be his cook and housekeeper. After months of taking care of the silly goblin, a young elf happens by and together they double-trick the crafty goblin. All ends happily, and the goblin learns to look after himself. Suitable for all ages - definitely a boy's tale.
Mrs. Wintergreen's Birthday Surprise
This is our most popular birthday show. Mrs. Wintergreen asks the help of young Cook Toddy in preparing a special birthday cake. The problem is Toddy only became a cook because he loves to eat. He knows very little about baking. She leaves Toddy alone, and that's when the fun begins! Everyone has an opinion of what should be in the cake. Before long, the Cat has thrown in a mouse, and the Dog a bone. And when the Villain steals the cake and "really" regrets it later, Toddy has to ask the elves for help. Toddy learns a lesson about telling the truth and the birthday cake is a success! Suitable for all ages - a hit with the very young.
Perez and Mondinga
This is the story of a cockroach who marries a mouse. Mondinga Cockroach decides it is time for her to marry and settle down. And so she looks for a suitor. The loud Rooster wishes to marry her, but he is too loud and boastful. The rich little Pig would love to settle down, but he is just looking for someone to clean his house. And worst of all, the evil Cat wants Mondinga for his own. But..he is too scary. And then comes Perez Mouse. Strumming his guitar and speaking gently. Mondinga falls in love and they agree to marry. This Mexican fable tells the story of how Perez and Mondinga settle down, hold a wonderful fiesta, and defeat the evil Cat who tries to ruin everything. Filled with lovable animal characters and festive music, this Mexican spectacular is suitable for all ages.
· After your selected show is over, the Candy Man, a three-foot tall marionette, gives each party guest their own toy prize while visiting the children.
· Once completed, our puppeteer shows the puppets up close and the children can ask questions as to how things work and what it’s like to be a puppeteer. They might even be invited to check the puppets out backstage. An interactive "one-on-one" that the children will love.
· The whole puppet show usually lasts anywhere from 35 - 45 minutes. (Plus allow for a possibility of backstage time.)
Meet the Puppet Company
The Puppet Company was created by Randal Metz, and has been producing imaginative family entertainment for close to 50 years. It strives to present quality children's productions that appeal to all ages. Each tale or well known "puppet classic" is told with humor and delights the eyes with well-crafted puppets and colorful scenic effects. "Combining theater and puppetry is the key to a successful and creative production." And after seeing just one performance you'll wholeheartedly agree!
Randal has been pulling the strings of the Puppet Company since the age of ten. With a B.A. Degree in Theater and Children’s Theater from San Francisco State University, he is well prepared for the vigorous job of entertaining families. After 20 years of apprenticing with Master Puppeteer Lewis Mahlmann, of Children’s Fairyland, he became partners with his "at one-time" teacher and currently produces seven different puppet shows a year for Fairyland which is located in Lakeside Park in Oakland. Thanks to Mahlmann's influence, Randal is able to tackle any tale that will educate or enthrall youngsters. From "The Three Pigs" to "The Magic Flute", wherever the imagination will travel, the Puppet Company can take you there.
