Start your musical journey in the entry-level orchestra Chamber Players or challenge yourself in the prestigious Senior Symphony!

ECYS has openings for all instruments at all levels for the 2018-19 Season!

  • There is the greatest demand for:
    • Percussion
    • Bassoon
    • Brass
    • String Bass and Viola
    • Saxophone

The Senior Symphony Orchestra, ECYS's premiere ensemble conducted by Dr. Jindong Cai, performs professional-level repertoire and hosts internationally recognized guest artists. The group holds an August retreat and tours ever other summer. In 2019, the orchestra will depart on Baltic Tour '19 with stops in Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland; and St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia. Maestro Cai, who also teaches at Stanford University, was recently named Artistic Director of the National Youth Orchestra of China (NYO-China). Program highlights include Respighi Pines of Rome, Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4, and Shostakovich Symphony No. 10!

The Sinfonietta Orchestra, led by John Eells, prepares advanced string, wind, and brass players for the Senior Orchestra. They perform concerts throughout the Bay Area, including Flint Center in Cupertino! They play full symphonies and works by composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and more! The 2018-19 program will include Grieg Symphonic Dances, Mozart Symphony No. 41 ("Jupiter"), and Weber "Jubilee" Overture.

The El Camino Wind Orchestra, Dr. Richard Roper, conductor, challenges woodwinds, brass, and percussionists with classical and modern repertoire. Students at this level have typically had 3+ years of lessons.

The Galbraith Honor Strings, with conductor Mariya Borozina, is an intermediate, all-string group that, in addition to ensemble training, offers talented young violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists special sectional coaching to develop technique and musicality.

The Camerata Orchestra is a beginning-intermediate full orchestra for winds and string players who are still learning, but have had 2+ years of lessons and previous ensemble experience.

The Chamber Players Orchestra is the perfect first orchestra for beginning strings and wind players with 1+ years of lessons.
