East Bay

OMCA’s Hella Juneteenth Festival

JUNE 19. The festival includes a cookout, two stages of live deejays, art installations with local and international black artists, family activities, black-owned vendors and more. Check the website for information about other Juneteenth events at Oakland Museum of California this week including a Freedom Run 5K on June 18 and Friday Nights at OMCA on June 20. 12-5pm. $10-20, under 12 FREE.

JUNE 15. The event will include kids’ activities, cultural celebrations and live entertainment for the whole family. 11am-7pm. FREE.

Livermore Valley Arts Celebration

JUNE 21. This celebration commemorating the liberation of enslaved people in Texas after the Emancipation Proclamation abolished slavery will feature musical performances, art and dancing.10am-6pm. FREE.

Silicon Valley

Juneteenth Community Celebration

JUNE 19. Celebrate Juneteenth at the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose with the Silicon Valley African Film Festival. Learn about African Diaspora through a mix of short films for children and enjoy an African drumming workshop. Kids can also make their own drum to take home. 9:30am-4:30pm. $16-18, under 1 FREE.
