Celebrate this day honoring love and friendship with these fun heart-themed crafts.
Heart Salt Painting
Supplies
- Black cardstock paper
- Liquid glue
- Table salt
- Water color paints
Directions
Use the glue to draw a heart on the black paper. Immediately cover the glue with salt and carefully shake off excess. Let it dry for a few minutes. To paint, use a really wet paint brush to apply watercolor. Gently tap the salt covered glue and watch the colors transfer.
Heart Wand
Supplies
- Pipe cleaner
- Pony beads
Directions
Bend one end of the pipe cleaner into a heart shape and twist it around the main part of the pipe cleaner to secure it. Have your child string pony beads onto the pipe cleaner. When done, twist the bottom into a knot to keep the beads from falling off. It can be used as a wand or reading pointer.
Magic Hearts
Supplies
- White construction paper
- Black permanent marker
- White crayon
- Water color paints
Directions
With the marker, draw hearts on the paper. With the white crayon, write a letter or number inside each heart. Have your child use the water colors to paint over each heart and watch the letters/numbers magically appear.
To take this activity a step further, you can write a separate list of all the letters/numbers you used. Each time your child paints over one, they can cross it off the list.
