The Benefits of Bilingualism: Biliteracy across the Elementary Years

What happens in a child’s brain as they learn to understand and express ideas in two languages? Join us for the first event in EBI’s Parent Education Series to explore the science of bilingual development and its connection to learning.

We’ll look at how experience with Spanish and English shapes the brain’s developing language networks, and how children learn to draw on both languages as they communicate and make meaning. We’ll also discuss what the research tells us—and what questions researchers are still exploring—about bilingualism, attention, and thinking skills.

Whether your family speaks one language or several at home, we invite you to learn with us and bring your questions.

Join us for an in-depth look at EBI’s Middle School program and discover how our students are challenged, supported, and prepared for success in high school and beyond.

Monday, October 26, 2026 from 6-7:30 PM

During this interactive session, families will learn about EBI’s Spanish-English bilingual program, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP), and how our curriculum develops critical thinking, leadership, and global perspectives.

Topics will include:

• The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP)
• EBI’s Spanish-English bilingual educational model
• Academic curriculum and interdisciplinary learning
• Student support and advisory programs
• Athletics, clubs, leadership opportunities, and extracurricular activities
• High school placement and preparation
• The Accelerated Spanish Program (ASP) for students entering without prior Spanish experience
• The admissions process and next steps

Families will also have the opportunity to meet members of our Middle School community and ask questions about the student experience at EBI.

We look forward to sharing how EBI’s Middle School program empowers students to become confident communicators, independent learners, and internationally minded leaders.
