The Exploratorium is more than a museum—it’s a gateway to exploring science, art, and human perception with every visit. Let your curiosity roam through more than 600 interactive exhibits in six spacious indoor and outdoor galleries. You’ll find thoughtful safety protocols, our one-of-a-kind store, dining, and more at our beautiful bayside location.
Join us this summer for The Art of Tinkering (6/18/22-9/5/22) to celebrate the spectacular surprises that tinkering can bring. Dazzling artworks, charming contraptions, and tinkerable experiences will spark your creative flame as you sculpt with light and shadow, build (and break) circuits, harness the wind, compose music from junk, and help create chain reactions. Tinkerers of all ages, we invite you to dive in and get busy, but be warned: Your results may vary. And we wouldn’t want it any other way.
Our location at Pier 15 provides stunning views of downtown and the San Francisco Bay. Located on the Embarcadero between the historic Ferry Building and Pier 39, we are a short distance from any of these popular attractions: Fisherman’s Wharf, the Alcatraz ferries, and Oracle Park.
Looking for a night away from the kids? Things look different AFTER DARK at the Exploratorium. Every Thursday evening from 6-10 pm, grab your friends (ages 18+) and a drink and savor adults-only programming and one-of-a-kind activities.
