A Good Night’s Rest
Hatch Baby, a Menlo Park start-up founded by married parents, makes “smart” devices to make parenting easier. Rest is a combination sound machine and night light, which can be controlled remotely from a smartphone. When your baby get older, you can set an “OK to wake” light to eke out a few minutes more sleep. Hatch also makes a fetal Doppler device ($49) and will release its second-generation smart changing pad with built-in scale ($129) in May. Rest: $59. www.hatchbaby.comhttp://www.hatchbaby.com.
Better Baby Bottles
Make feeding time colorful and safe with glass baby bottles in silicon sleeves from Sausalito’s Lifefactory. All materials are BPA-free and dishwasher safe.
Additional caps are available to turn a bottle into a sippy cup or storage container. 4-ounce bottle: $14.99; 9-ounce: $16.99. www.lifefactory.com.
Super Sterilization
Germy pacifiers, bottles and breast-pump parts will meet their match with Ellie, the first portable UV LED light sterilizer from Hayward-based Rayvio. No need to boil water to make sure baby’s gear is clean. Using the same technology with which hospitals sanitize rooms, it takes Ellie just 60 seconds to eradicate 99.9 percent of germs. It can even purify water to make formula – or clean your cell phone, remote control, toothbrush and more. Available in April. $129. rayvio.com.
Infantile Humor
Menlo Park mom and cartoonist Alison Wong finds humor in sleepless nights, showerless days, diaper blowouts and more new-parent rites of passage in
New Mom Comics: The First Year. Based on her experiences with her son, Wong’s funny and sweet vignettes are sure to bring a smile to even the most sleep-deprived parent. $15. newmomcomics.com.
